Beddington Anglo-Saxon Woman's Shoulder Brooches

50.00

Note: These brooches are sold in pairs only.

Saucer brooches were worn in pairs by Anglo Saxon women at the shoulders or the breast, similar to the way oval brooches were worn by Viking women. The originals of this pair were found in 1871 in Beddingdon, Surrey. This running spiral design was very common, and had many variations.

Made of brass, our brooches are 1 1/2 inches (3.8 cm) in diameter. They are etched while flat and then shaped. Sturdy handmade stainless steel pins are then attached.
